ص ۚ وَالْقُرْآنِ ذِي الذِّكْرِ"

Saaad; wal-Qur-aani ziz zikr

SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur?an.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 1

"بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي عِزَّةٍ وَشِقَاقٍ"

Balil lazeena kafaroo fee 'izzatinw wa shiqaaq

But the unbelievers are still full of pride and hostility.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 2

"كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ مِنْ قَرْنٍ فَنَادَوْا وَلَاتَ حِينَ مَنَاصٍ"

Kam ahlaknaa min qablihim min qarnin fanaadaw wa laata heena manaas

How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 3

"وَعَجِبُوا أَنْ جَاءَهُمْ مُنْذِرٌ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَقَالَ الْكَافِرُونَ هَٰذَا سَاحِرٌ كَذَّابٌ"

Wa 'ajibooo an jaaa'a hum munzirum minhum wa qaalal kaafiroona haazaa saahirun kazzaab

They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 4

"أَجَعَلَ الْآلِهَةَ إِلَٰهًا وَاحِدًا ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ عُجَابٌ"

Aja'alal aalihata Ilaahanw Waahidan inna haazaa lashai'un 'ujaab

Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!"

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 5

"وَانْطَلَقَ الْمَلَأُ مِنْهُمْ أَنِ امْشُوا وَاصْبِرُوا عَلَىٰ آلِهَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيْءٌ يُرَادُ"

Wantalaqal mala-u minhum anim shoo wasbiroo 'alaaa aalihatikum innna haazaa lashai 'uny yuraad

And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 6

"مَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي الْمِلَّةِ الْآخِرَةِ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا اخْتِلَاقٌ"

Maa sami'naa bihaazaa fil millatil aakhirati in haazaaa illakh tilaaq

We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 7

"أَأُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ مِنْ ذِكْرِي ۖ بَلْ لَمَّا يَذُوقُوا عَذَابِ"

A-unzila 'alaihiz zikru mim baininaa; bal hum fee shakkim min Zikree bal lammaa yazooqoo 'azaab

To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet!

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 8

"أَمْ عِنْدَهُمْ خَزَائِنُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ الْعَزِيزِ الْوَهَّابِ"

Am'indahum khazaaa 'inu rahmati Rabbikal 'Azeezil Wahhab

Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent?

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 9

"أَمْ لَهُمْ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ فَلْيَرْتَقُوا فِي الْأَسْبَابِ"

Am lahum mulkus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa falyartaqoo fil asbaab

Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens).

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 10

"جُنْدٌ مَا هُنَالِكَ مَهْزُومٌ مِنَ الْأَحْزَابِ"

Jundum maa hunaalika mahzoomum minal Ahzaab

They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 11

"كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ وَعَادٌ وَفِرْعَوْنُ ذُو الْأَوْتَادِ"

Kazzabat qablahum qawmu Lootinw-wa 'Aadunw wa Fir'awnu zul awtaad

Even before them the people of Noah, ?Ad, the mighty Pharoah,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 12

"وَثَمُودُ وَقَوْمُ لُوطٍ وَأَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ الْأَحْزَابُ"

Wa Samoodu wa qawmu Lootinw wa Ashaabul 'Aykah; ulaaa'ikal Ahzaab

And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 13

"إِنْ كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ"

In kullun illaa kazzabar Rusula fahaqqa 'iqaab (section 1)

Of all these there was not one who did not deny the messengers. So My retribution was justified.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 14

"وَمَا يَنْظُرُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ إِلَّا صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً مَا لَهَا مِنْ فَوَاقٍ"

Wa maa yanzuru haaa ulaaa'i illaa saihatanw waahidatam maa lahaa min fawaaq

They await but a single blast which will not be repeated.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 15

"وَقَالُوا رَبَّنَا عَجِّلْ لَنَا قِطَّنَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ"

Wa qaaloo Rabbanaa 'ajjil lanaa qittanaa qabla Yawmil Hisaab

Still they say: "O Lord, give us our share before the Day of Reckoning."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 16

"اصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا دَاوُودَ ذَا الْأَيْدِ ۖ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ"

Isbir 'alaa maa yaqooloona wazkur 'abdanaa Daawooda zal aidi innahooo awwaab

Bear with patience what they say, and remember Our votary David, man of strength. He surely turned to Us in penitence.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 17

"إِنَّا سَخَّرْنَا الْجِبَالَ مَعَهُ يُسَبِّحْنَ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالْإِشْرَاقِ"

Innaa sakhkharnal jibaala ma'ahoo yusabbihna bil'ashaiyi wal ishraaq

We subjugated the chiefs (of tribes) to struggle day and night with him,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 18

"وَالطَّيْرَ مَحْشُورَةً ۖ كُلٌّ لَهُ أَوَّابٌ"

Wattayra mahshoorah; kullul lahooo awwaab

And the levied Tair. They were all obedient to him.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 19

"وَشَدَدْنَا مُلْكَهُ وَآتَيْنَاهُ الْحِكْمَةَ وَفَصْلَ الْخِطَابِ"

Wa shadadnaa mulkahoo wa aatainaahul Hikmata wa faslal khitaab

So We further strengthened his kingdom, and bestowed wisdom on him, and judgement in legal matters.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 20

"۞ وَهَلْ أَتَاكَ نَبَأُ الْخَصْمِ إِذْ تَسَوَّرُوا الْمِحْرَابَ"

Wa hal ataaka naba'ul khasm; iz tasawwarul mihraab

Have you heard of the litigants who jumped over the wall into his chamber?

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 21

"إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَىٰ دَاوُودَ فَفَزِعَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ ۖ خَصْمَانِ بَغَىٰ بَعْضُنَا عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تُشْطِطْ وَاهْدِنَا إِلَىٰ سَوَاءِ الصِّرَاطِ"

Iz dakhaloo 'alaa Daawooda fafazi'a minhum qaaloo la takhaf khasmaani baghaa ba'dunaa 'alaa ba'din fahkum bainanaaa bilhaqqi wa laa tushtit wahdinaaa ilaa Sawaaa'is Siraat

When they came before David, he was frightened of them. "Do not be afraid," they said. "The two of us are disputing the wrong one has done the other. So judge between us with equity, and do not be unjust, and guide us to the right path.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 22

"إِنَّ هَٰذَا أَخِي لَهُ تِسْعٌ وَتِسْعُونَ نَعْجَةً وَلِيَ نَعْجَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَقَالَ أَكْفِلْنِيهَا وَعَزَّنِي فِي الْخِطَابِ"

Inna haazaaa akhee lahoo tis'unw wa tis'oona na'jatanw wa liya na'jatunw waahidah; faqaala akfilneeha wa 'azzanee filkhitaab

This man here is my brother. He has ninety and nine ewes while I have only one. He demands that I should give him my ewe, and wants to get the better of me in argument."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 23

"قَالَ لَقَدْ ظَلَمَكَ بِسُؤَالِ نَعْجَتِكَ إِلَىٰ نِعَاجِهِ ۖ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ الْخُلَطَاءِ لَيَبْغِي بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَقَلِيلٌ مَا هُمْ ۗ وَظَنَّ دَاوُودُ أَنَّمَا فَتَنَّاهُ فَاسْتَغْفَرَ رَبَّهُ وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ ۩"

Qaala laqad zalamaka bisu 'aali na'jatika ilaa ni'aajihee wa inna kaseeram minal khulataaa'i la-yabghee ba'duhum 'alaa ba'din illal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati wa qaleehum maa hum; wa zanna Daawoodu annamaa fatannaahu fastaghrara Rabbahoo wa kharra raaki'anw wa anaab (make sajdah)

(David) said: "He is unjust in demanding your ewe to add to his (many) ewes. Many partners are surely -- unjust to one another, except those who believe and do the right; but there are only a few of them." It occurred to David that he was being tried by Us, and he begged his Lord to forgive him, and fell down in homage and repented.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 24

"فَغَفَرْنَا لَهُ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ"

Faghafarnaa lahoo zaalik; wa inna lahoo 'indanaa lazulfaa wa husna ma aab

So We forgave him. He has surely a high rank with Us and an excellent place of return.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 25

"يَا دَاوُودُ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاكَ خَلِيفَةً فِي الْأَرْضِ فَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا تَتَّبِعِ الْهَوَىٰ فَيُضِلَّكَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَضِلُّونَ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌ بِمَا نَسُوا يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ"

Yaa Daawoodu innaa ja'alnaaka khaleefatan fil ardi fahkum bainan naasi bilhaqqi wa laa tattabi'il hawaa fayudillaka 'an sabeelil laah; innal lazeena yadilloona 'an sabeelil laah; lahum 'azaabun shadeedum bimaa nasoo Yawmal Hisaab (section 2)

"O David, We have made you trustee on the earth. So judge between men equitably, and do not follow your lust lest it should lead you astray from the way of God. Surely for those who go astray from the way of God, is severe punishment, for having forgotten the Day of Reckoning.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 26

"وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنَ النَّارِ"

Wa ma khalaqnas samaaa'a wal arda wa maa bainahumaa baatilaa; zaalika zannul lazeena kafaroo; fawi lul lillazeena kafaroo minan Naar

We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 27

"أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَالْمُفْسِدِينَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَمْ نَجْعَلُ الْمُتَّقِينَ كَالْفُجَّارِ"

Am naj'alul lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati kalmufisdeena fil ardi am naj'alul muttaqeena kalfujjaar

Should We equate those who do the right with those who spread corruption in the land? Should We make those who are morally integrated equal to those who seek disintegration?

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 28

"كِتَابٌ أَنْزَلْنَاهُ إِلَيْكَ مُبَارَكٌ لِيَدَّبَّرُوا آيَاتِهِ وَلِيَتَذَكَّرَ أُولُو الْأَلْبَابِ"

Kitaabun anzalnaahu ilaika mubaarakul liyaddabbarooo Aayaatihee wa liyatazakkara ulul albaab

We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 29

"وَوَهَبْنَا لِدَاوُودَ سُلَيْمَانَ ۚ نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ"

Wa wahabnaa li Daawooda Sulaimaan; ni'mal 'abd; innahoo awwaab

We bestowed Solomon on David who was an excellent devotee, for he turned to God in penitence.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 30

"إِذْ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ بِالْعَشِيِّ الصَّافِنَاتُ الْجِيَادُ"

Iz 'urida 'alaihi bil'ashiy yis saafinaatul jiyaad

When they brought fleet-footed chargers in the evening to show him,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 31

"فَقَالَ إِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُ حُبَّ الْخَيْرِ عَنْ ذِكْرِ رَبِّي حَتَّىٰ تَوَارَتْ بِالْحِجَابِ"

Faqaala inneee ahbabtu hubbal khairi 'an zikri Rabbee hattaa tawaarat bilhijaab

He said: "The love of horses is worthy of desire to me for the remembrance of my Lord;" and when they were out of sight, (he said):

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 32

"رُدُّوهَا عَلَيَّ ۖ فَطَفِقَ مَسْحًا بِالسُّوقِ وَالْأَعْنَاقِ"

Ruddoohaa 'alaiya fatafiqa masham bissooqi wal a'naaq

"Bring them back to me," and he began to rub and stroke their shanks and necks.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 33

"وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا سُلَيْمَانَ وَأَلْقَيْنَا عَلَىٰ كُرْسِيِّهِ جَسَدًا ثُمَّ أَنَابَ"

Wa laqad fatannaa Sulaimaana wa alqainaa 'alaa kursiyyihee jasadan summa anaab

We surely tried Solomon, and placed another body on his throne. So he turned to God

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 34

"قَالَ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَهَبْ لِي مُلْكًا لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ مِنْ بَعْدِي ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ"

Qaala Rabbigh fir lee wa hab lee mulkal laa yambaghee li ahadim mim ba'de inaka Antal Wahhab

Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 35

"فَسَخَّرْنَا لَهُ الرِّيحَ تَجْرِي بِأَمْرِهِ رُخَاءً حَيْثُ أَصَابَ"

Fasakhkharnaa lahur reeha tajree bi amrihee rukhaaa'an haisu asaab

So we subjugated the wind to his service which carried his merchandise wheresoever he wished;

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 36

"وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍ"

Wash Shayaateena kulla bannaaa'inw wa ghawwaas

And the devils -- the builders and divers of all kinds,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 37

"وَآخَرِينَ مُقَرَّنِينَ فِي الْأَصْفَادِ"

Wa aakhareena muqarraneena fil asfaad

And many others bound in bond.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 38

"هَٰذَا عَطَاؤُنَا فَامْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ"

Haazaa 'ataaa'unaa famnun aw amsik bighairi hisaab

"This is Our gift," (We said to him), "so bestow freely or withhold without reckoning."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 39

"وَإِنَّ لَهُ عِنْدَنَا لَزُلْفَىٰ وَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ"

Wa inna lahoo 'indanaa lazulfaa wa husna ma-aab (section 3)

He has a high position with Us and an excellent abode.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 40

"وَاذْكُرْ عَبْدَنَا أَيُّوبَ إِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبَّهُ أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الشَّيْطَانُ بِنُصْبٍ وَعَذَابٍ"

Wazkur 'abdanaaa Ayyoob; iz naada Rabbahooo annee massaniyash Shaitaanu binus binw wa 'azaab

Remember Our votary Job because he called to his Lord: "Satan has afflicted me with disease and distress."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 41

"ارْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ ۖ هَٰذَا مُغْتَسَلٌ بَارِدٌ وَشَرَابٌ"

Urkud birijlika haaza mughtasalum baaridunw wa sharaab

"Go swiftly to the spring," (We said). "This cold water is for bathing and for drinking."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 42

"وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ أَهْلَهُ وَمِثْلَهُمْ مَعَهُمْ رَحْمَةً مِنَّا وَذِكْرَىٰ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ"

Wa wahabnaa lahoo ahlahoo wa mislahum ma'ahum rahmatam minna wa zikraa li ulil albaab

We restored his family to him with others similar to them, as a blessing from Us and a reminder for men of wisdom. --

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 43

"وَخُذْ بِيَدِكَ ضِغْثًا فَاضْرِبْ بِهِ وَلَا تَحْنَثْ ۗ إِنَّا وَجَدْنَاهُ صَابِرًا ۚ نِعْمَ الْعَبْدُ ۖ إِنَّهُ أَوَّابٌ"

Wa khuz biyadika dighsan fadrib bihee wa laa tahnas, innaa wajadnaahu saabiraa; ni'mal 'abd; innahooo awwaab

"Take a handful of herbs," (We said to him), and apply and rub them, and do not make a mistake." We found him patient in adversity, an excellent devotee, always turning in repentance.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 44

"وَاذْكُرْ عِبَادَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أُولِي الْأَيْدِي وَالْأَبْصَارِ"

Wazkur 'ibaadanaaa Ibraaheema wa Is-haaqa wa Ya'qooba ulil-aydee walabsaar

Remember Our votaries Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of power and insight.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 45

"إِنَّا أَخْلَصْنَاهُمْ بِخَالِصَةٍ ذِكْرَى الدَّارِ"

Innaaa akhlasnaahum bi khaalisatin zikrad daar

We distinguished them for the distinct remembrance of the abode (of the Hereafter).

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 46

"وَإِنَّهُمْ عِنْدَنَا لَمِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْأَخْيَارِ"

Wa innahum 'indanaa laminal mustafainal akhyaar

They are the chosen ones, the excellent in Our sight.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 47

"وَاذْكُرْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَالْيَسَعَ وَذَا الْكِفْلِ ۖ وَكُلٌّ مِنَ الْأَخْيَارِ"

Wazkur Ismaa'eela wal Yasa'a wa Zal-Kifli wa kullum minal akhyaar

And remember Ishmael, Elisha and Dhu?l-Kifl. Every one of them is among the best.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 48

"هَٰذَا ذِكْرٌ ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ لَحُسْنَ مَآبٍ"

Haazaa zikr; wa inna lilmuttaqeena lahusna ma aab

This is a commemoration. Surely for those who take heed for themselves is an excellent place of return --

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 49

"جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍ مُفَتَّحَةً لَهُمُ الْأَبْوَابُ"

Jannaati 'adnim mufat tahatal lahumul abwaab

Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 50

"مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ"

Muttaki'eena feehaa yad'oona feehaa bifaakihatin kaseeratinw wa sharaab

Where they will take their ease, calling for fruits in plenty, and for wine,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 51

"۞ وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ"

Wa 'indahum qaasiraatut tarfi atraab

With companions of modest look, the same in age, by their side.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 52

"هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ"

Haaza maa too'odoona li Yawmil Hisaab

This is what is promised you for the Day of Reckoning.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 53

"إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُ مِنْ نَفَادٍ"

Inna haazaa larizqunaa maa lahoo min nafaad

This is surely Our provision never-ending.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 54

"هَٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّاغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَآبٍ"

Haazaa; wa inna littaagheena lasharra ma-aab

This (for the virtuous); but for the transgressors the evil destination,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 55

"جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ"

Jahannama yaslawnahaa fai'sal mihaad

Hell, in which they will burn. How vile a resting place!

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 56

"هَٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ"

Haazaa falyazooqoohu hameemunw wa ghassaaq

There will be boiling water for them and cold, clammy, fetid drink to taste,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 57

"وَآخَرُ مِنْ شَكْلِهِ أَزْوَاجٌ"

Wa aakharu min shak liheee azwaaj

And other similar torments.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 58

"هَٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُقْتَحِمٌ مَعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُو النَّارِ"

Haazaa fawjum muqtahimum ma'akum laa marhabam bihim; innahum saalun Naar

Here is a multitude rushing headlong with you. There is no welcome for them. They will roast in the fire.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 59

"قَالُوا بَلْ أَنْتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنْتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ الْقَرَارُ"

Qaaloo bal antum laa marhabam bikum; antum qaddamtumoohu lanaa fabi'sal qaraar

They will say: "In fact, it is you who will have no welcome. It is you who brought this upon us. What an evil place of rest!"

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 60

"قَالُوا رَبَّنَا مَنْ قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِي النَّارِ"

Qaaloo Rabbanaa man qaddama lanaa haaza fazidhu 'azaaban di'fan fin Naar

They will say: "O Lord, give him who has brought this upon us two times more the torment of Hell;"

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 61

"وَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُمْ مِنَ الْأَشْرَارِ"

Wa qaaloo ma lanaa laa naraa rijaalan kunnaa na'udduhum minal ashraar

And will add: "O what has happened to us that we do not see the men we counted among the wicked.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 62

"أَتَّخَذْنَاهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ الْأَبْصَارُ"

Attakhaznaahum sikh riyyan am zaaghat 'anhumul absaar

Did we laugh at them (for nothing), or our eyes fail to pick them out?"

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 63

"إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ"

Inna zaalika lahaqqun takhaasumu Ahlin Naar (section 4)

This contending of the inmates of Hell will surely be real.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 64

"قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُنْذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ"

Qul innamaaa ana munzirunw wa maa min ilaahim illal laahul Waahidul Qahhaar

Say: "I am only a warner, and there is no other god but God, the one, the omnipotent,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 65

"رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ"

Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumal 'Azeezul Ghaffaar

Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all-mighty, all-forgiving."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 66

"قُلْ هُوَ نَبَأٌ عَظِيمٌ"

Qul huwa naba'un 'azeem

Say: "This is a momentous message,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 67

"أَنْتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ"

Antum 'anhu mu'ridoon

To which you pay no heed.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 68

"مَا كَانَ لِيَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ بِالْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ"

Maa kaana liya min 'ilmim bilmala il a'laaa iz yakhtasimoon

I had no knowledge of the higher Assembly when they discussed it among themselves.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 69

"إِنْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ إِلَّا أَنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ"

Iny-yoohaaa ilaiya illaaa annnamaaa ana nazeerum mubeen

Only this has been revealed to me that I am a distinct warner.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 70

"إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِنْ طِينٍ"

Iz qaala Rabbuka lilmalaaa'ikati innee khaaliqum basharam min teen

When your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man from clay;

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 71

"فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ"

Fa-iza sawwaituhoo wa nafakhtu feehi mir roohee faqa'oo lahoo saajideen

And when I have made him and have breathed into him of My spirit. Fall down in homage before him."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 72

"فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ"

Fasajadal malaaa'ikatu kulluhum ajma'oon

Then the angels bowed before him in a body,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 73

"إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ"

Illaaa Iblees; istakbara wa kaana minal kaafireen

Except Iblis. He was filled with pride and turned an unbeliever.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 74

"قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ"

Qaala yaaa Ibleesu maa man'aka an tasjuda limaa khalaqtu biyadai; astakbarta am kunta min 'aaleen

Said (God): "O Iblis, what hindered you from adoring what I created by My own authority? Are you too proud, or too high and mighty?"

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 75

"قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ نَارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ طِينٍ"

Qaala ana khairum minah; khalaqtanee min naarinw wa khalaqtahoo min teen

He said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him from clay."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 76

"قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ"

Qaala fakhruj minhaa fainnaka rajeem

(God) said: "Then go hence, ostracised.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 77

"وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ"

Wa inna 'alaika la'nateee ilaa Yawmid Deen

Upon you will be My damnation till the Day of Doom."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 78

"قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ"

Qaala Rabbi fa anzirneee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon

He said: "O Lord, give me respite till the day the dead rise from their graves."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 79

"قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ"

Qaala fa innaka minal munzareen

(God) said: "You have the respite

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 80

"إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ"

Ilaa Yawmil waqtil ma'loom

Till the appointed day."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 81

"قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ"

Qaala fabi'izzatika la ughwiyannahum ajma'een

He said: "By Your authority, I will lead them astray,

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 82

"إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ"

Illaa 'ibaadaka minhumul mukhlaseen

Other than the chosen ones among Your creatures."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 83

"قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ"

Qaala falhaqq, walhaqqa aqool

(God) said: "This is right by Me, and what I say is right.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 84

"لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنْكَ وَمِمَّنْ تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ"

La amla'annna Jahannama minka wa mimman tabi'aka minhum ajma'een

I will fill up Hell with you together with those who follow you."

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 85

"قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ"

Qul maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrinw wa maaa ana minal mutakallifeen

Say: "I do not ask any compensation of you for it, nor am I a specious pretender.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 86

"إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ"

In huwa illaa zikrul lil'aalameen

This is only a warning for mankind.

Surah Number : 38 , Ayat Number : 87

"وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُ بَعْدَ حِينٍ"

Wa lata'lamunna naba ahoo ba'da heen (section 5)

You will come to know its truth in time."
