وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰ

Wallaili izaa yaghshaa

I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 1

وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

Wannahaari izaa tajalla

And the day when it shines in all its glory,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 2

وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ

Wa maa khalaqaz zakara wal unthaa

And Him who created the male and female,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 3

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّىٰ

Inna sa'yakum lashattaa

That your endeavour is for different ends.

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 4

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَىٰ وَاتَّقَىٰ

Fa ammaa man a'taa wattaqaa

Yet he who gives to others and has fear,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 5

وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ

Wa saddaqa bil husnaa

And affirms goodness,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 6

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ

Fasanu yassiruhoo lilyusraa

We shall ease the way of fortune for him.

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 7

وَأَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَىٰ

Wa ammaa man bakhila wastaghnaa

But he who does not give and is unconcerned,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 8

وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَىٰ

Wa kazzaba bil husnaa

And rejects goodness,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 9

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَىٰ

Fasanu yassiruhoo lil'usraa

For him We shall ease the way of adversity,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 10

وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰ

Wa maa yughnee 'anhu maaluhooo izaa taraddaa

And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss).

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 11

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَىٰ

Inna 'alainaa lal hudaa

It is indeed for Us to show the way,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 12

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَىٰ

Wa inna lanaa lal Aakhirata wal oolaa

And to Us belong the End and the Beginning.

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 13

فَأَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّىٰ

Fa anzartukum naaran talazzaa

So, I warn you of the blazing Fire.

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 14

لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى

Laa yaslaahaaa illal ashqaa

No one will burn in it but the most wretched,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 15

الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Allazee kazzaba wa tawallaa

Who denied (the truth) and turned away.

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 16

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى

Wa sa yujannnabuhal atqaa

But save him who fears

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 17

الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

Allazee yu'tee maalahoo yatazakkaa

And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 18

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزَىٰ

Wa maa li ahadin 'indahoo min ni'matin tujzaaa

And is under no one?s obligation to return his favour,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 19

إِلَّا ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَىٰ

Illab tighaaa'a wajhi rabbihil a 'laa

Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high,

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 20

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَىٰ

Wa lasawfa yardaa

Will surely be gratified.

Surah Number : 92 , Ayat Number : 21
